Our take

Buck Hill calls itself Minnesota’s largest snow tubing facility, and the setup backs that up: a covered standing conveyor lift, curbed lanes with good lighting and a bonfire pit next to Buck ’54 Bar & Grill. The record lists snowmaking and night tubing.

The schedule is Thursday and Friday from 4pm to 9pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 9pm. Monday through Wednesday the hill is closed except for group rentals. Session prices scale by day and time: the park listed weekday 2-hour sessions at $17-22 and weekend or holiday ones at $21-26, with cheaper Late Night slots after 7:30pm or 8pm. Online is cheaper than at the door. Riders must be at least 42 inches, get one per tube, and tickets are nonrefundable.

Rules are firm: only Buck Hill’s tubes, no food or drinks on the hill and no ski boots. The park also runs Northern Lights nights with choreographed lights and music on select February and March dates.

Trapp Farm Park Tubing Hill is about 6 miles away and far cheaper, but you climb on foot. Check our night tubing guide for what to expect.
