Perkinstown Winter Sports Area is a Taylor County facility inside Chequamegon National Forest, and it keeps things simple. The county describes a four-chute hill with a tow rope and a set of stairs, plus a chalet with a warming area, snacks and concessions. Nine miles of cross-country and snowshoe trails are groomed and always open, so you can add another activity to the day.
Hours are weather dependent, but the county lists Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday runs 5 to 8 pm at $10. Saturday is 11 am to 5 pm at $15, or $10 for the 11 to 2 or 2 to 5 slots. Sunday is 12 to 4 pm at $11, or $8 for a 12 to 2 or 2 to 4 slot. Our earlier record listed Saturdays and Sundays only, so treat Friday as a check-first item.
The big practical rule: the park does not accept debit or credit cards. Bring cash or a checkbook. Call (715) 905-0569 for conditions or to book a private group.

We track 19 tubing hills in Wisconsin. The park has not published a price, so it cannot be compared on cost — call before you budget.
It runs 4 lanes against a state average of about 12, so it is smaller than most of its neighbours, which can mean longer waits when it is busy.
One caveat worth repeating: this park had not published its current-season dates when we last checked, while 1 of the 19 parks we track in Wisconsin had. Treat any date you see elsewhere as a prior season's until the park confirms it.
